Egbewole hails Akanji, Oloyede

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has commended a former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Musibau Adewunmi Akanji; and a former Vice Chancellor of the Fountain University, Osogbo, Prof. Hussein Oyelola Bukoye Oloyede; for their outstanding individual and collective contributions to the development of the University and humanity at large.

Prof. Egbewole made this commendation last Tuesday (April 23, 2024) while speaking at the presentation of a  publication in honour of the duo at the University Multipurpose Hall.

The Vice Chancellor, who was represented by  the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Technology and Innovation), Prof. Adegboyega Adisa Fawole, said that the legacy of the two scholars would continue to inspire and guide succeeding generations of students and researchers.

Prof. Egbewole, who described the honourees as two jolly friends, said that they were also regarded as oracles as they both served as Vice Chancellors in two universities each in their careers.

The Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law assured the two former Vice Chancellors that the University would continue to uphold the value of excellence and mentorship they exemplified throughout their exciting careers.

In her welcome address, the Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, Prof. Patricia F. Omojasola, described the event as a celebration of decades of dedication, diligence, commitment and excellence in teaching, research and community service.

The Dean thanked the two scholars for their contributions to the deepening of knowledge in the field of Biochemistry and allied studies.

Also speaking, the Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Prof. J. O. Adebayo, acknowledged what he called “the immense and immeasurable contributions of the duo” to the Department as he commended their selfless and meritorious services to the University and humanity  at large.
